New Wisconsin Income Tax Donation Line:
Wisconsin Bill Boosts
Prostate Cancer Research
SANTA MONICA, Calif. (May 25, 2006) – Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle has signed a billthat creates an income tax donation line which would generate additional research dollars for prostate cancer research in the state of Wisconsin.

The bi-partisan bill, co-authored by Rep. David Ward (R-Ft. Atkinson) and Rep. Jim Kreuser (D-Kenosha), mirrors the breast cancer research donation line that currently appears on the Wisconsin state tax return forms. Revenue raised by Wisconsin taxpayers will remain in the state of Wisconsin and benefit leading prostate cancer research centers in the state.

The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) worked with legislators to bring this concept to Wisconsin residents. The PCF helped establish income tax donation lines in other states two years ago, raising $224,000 in New York and $188,000 in California in 2005 -- the first year the donation line appeared on either form. In addition, the state of New York and the Foundation matched the contribution in New York, making the total actually raised in NY $672,000.

“One in six men will get prostate cancer, making it the most common non-skin cancer in America,” said Leslie D. Michelson, chief executive officer of the Prostate Cancer Foundation. “We applaud Governor Doyle and the Wisconsin legislature for providing residents the opportunity to help find better treatments and a cure for prostate cancer by donating a portion of their 2006 tax return.”

About the Prostate Cancer Foundation The Prostate Cancer Foundation is the world's largest philanthropic source of support for prostate cancer research. Founded in 1993, the PCF has raised more than $260 million and provided funding for prostate cancer research to more than 1,200 researchers at 100 institutions worldwide. PCF has a simple, yet urgent goal: to find better treatments and a cure for recurrent prostate cancer. For more information, please visit www.prostatecancerfoundation.org
