President Bush campaigning in
'must-win' Wisconsin and Iowa

ARLINGTON, VA (May 4, 2004) - On Friday, May 7, 2004, President George W. Bush will continue the Yes, America Can bus tour with three stops in Iowa and Wisconsin.  Bush didn't fare as well as he had hoped in the two states during his fight for the oval office against former Vice President Al Gore four years ago.

Wisconsin and Iowa, as well as a number of other close states throughout the country the last time around, will likely be continuing places for both Bush, and Democrat John Kerry, to concentrate on during this race.

The President's campaign people say George W. "will participate in events focused on the strength, optimism and resolve of the American people in meeting the tests of our time – strengthening the economy, making our communities better and keeping America safe."

The following itenerary has been released by the George W. Bush campaign staff:

In Iowa on Friday, the President will deliver remarks at a Dubuque, Iowa send-off. He will then travel by bus to Wisconsin, where he first participates in an "Ask President Bush" event in Prairie du Chien, WI. Finally, President Bush travels to LaCrosse to deliver remarks at a LaCrosse, WI rally Friday evening.

President Bush will discuss his plan for growing the economy and ensuring that every American who wants a job can find one. He will also hear from families throughout Iowa and Wisconsin who are benefiting from the historic tax relief passed by his Administration.

The President will highlight the values that keep America’s communities and families strong. In each city, President Bush will herald local leaders who are making a difference by helping friends and neighbors in need. These events will focus on faith-based organizations, mentoring programs and other community based programs.

President Bush will discuss the War on Terror and the importance of success in Iraq. He will honor our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq who are true heroes in the War on Terror and who – along with their families – have made great sacrifices to keep America safe.

A campaign spokespersons says, "the President looks forward to discussing his agenda to make America safer, stronger and better with the people of Iowa and Wisconsin."

Friday’s events continue the Yes, America Can bus tour, which kicked-off earlier this week with events in Michigan and Ohio. On Monday, May 3, the President participated in an “Ask President Bush” event in Niles, MI. He then delivered remarks in Kalamazoo, MI, followed by an evening rally in Sterling Heights, MI. Mrs. Bush traveled with the President and introduced him at two events in Michigan.

On Tuesday, May 4, President Bush spoke at a breakfast in Maumee, Ohio. He also participated in “Ask President Bush” in Dayton, Ohio, followed by remarks at the Golden Lamb Inn in Lebanon, Ohio. Finally, President Bush addressed supporters at a rally in Cincinnati, Ohio.
