The new Wisconsin Smoke-Free Workplace Law will go into effect July 5th. Smaby was the final choice from a field of 26 contestants from around Wisconsin. Smaby is a ballet dancer from Holmen. The newly crowned Miss Wisconsin is the fourth Miss Madison title holder to win the state crown since 2003. Over this time period, the Obama campaign spent nearly $21.5 million while the McCain campaign spent nearly $7.5 million. Another $6.7 million was spent by the Republican Party and $2.2 million was spent by interest groups. The total does not include the so-called 30-minute Obama Infomercial the week before election day, nor anything McCain has spent in the last few days. In a conference call to the media, Tannebaum said he spoke with Favre about the prospect of joining the Jets and Brett, team management and Jets fans seem to be excited about the football icon becoming a Jet. Tannebaum explained that acquiring Brett Favre will mean that the Jets are likely to let Chad Pennington go. Barack Obama and John McCain are airing more advertisements in more media markets than their counterparts did during a comparable period in the 2004 election campaign, according to a University of Wisconsin-Madison study. The websites are hosted by Cliksites Hosting, which is a service of Magicmedia Communications, Inc., a member of the Morbizco Media Group. Two of the sites affected were Clik2Go.com, which is an internet portal, internet access provider, and search engine service, and WisconsinReport.com. WISCONSINREPORT.COM (03/04/08) - Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre has decided to not come back to the Packers for another year to break more records. He is instead retiring from leading the Packers on to victory, and from professional football. Packers General Manager Ted Thompson says Favre informed the Packer organization of his intention to retire from the Green Bay Packers and the NFL. WISCONSINREPORT.COM (03/01/08) - FSN Wisconsin's 135 game regular-season Brewers baseball schedule this year will include an increased number of games to be televised in high definition (HD schedule to be released at a later date) as well as 17 day games that will be re-broadcast in primetime. FSN Wisconsin will produce all of the 150 regular season telecasts, including the 15 over-the-air broadcasts on WMLW TV-41. Telecasts on WMLW will be simulcast by FSN outside the Milwaukee DMA on satellite and cable. FSN Wisconsin's coverage begins at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 31 against the division rival Chicago Cubs. WISCONSINREPORT.COM (02/20/08) - Illinois U.S. Senator Barack Obama gained a larger lead in Democratic delegates following yesterday's win over Hillary Clinton in the presidential primary races. Unofficial counts today show Obama with 1168 delegates gained from primaries and cacuses held so far. Hillary Clinton has 1018 delegates, without including Super Delegates. That means that Obama is now about 150 regular delegates ahead of Hillary, following the 59 to 41 percent Wisconsin win over the U.S. Senator from New York. WISCONSINREPORT.COM (02/02/08) - Presidential candidates have spent $107 million on television advertising so far this season, with nearly all of it having been spent in the weeks and months leading up to the earliest primaries and caucuses and almost none of it on Super Tuesday states. He will serve as co-owner of the venture with the support of a wide range of new media and business investors. Mitchell held a news conference during which he made a few comments to reporters before releasing the names of many prominent Major League baseball figures who have been indicated as being involved in steroid or other performance enchancer use during their careers. The game between two teams with 10 wins and just one loss for the season will only be seen on the NFL Network. In most of Wisconsin, the NFL Network is only available by satellite. Wisconsin fans who have cable won't see the NFL Network, because some cable companies do not have an agreement to carry the network. WISCONSINREPORT.COM (11/24/07) - A U.S. District Court judge has found television infomercial star Kevin Trudeau in contempt of court for violating a 2004 permanent injunction. The Court found that Trudeau violated the permanent injunction when he misrepresented the contents of his book, The Weight Loss Cure They Don’t Want You to Know About, in several infomercials. WISCREPORT.COM (11/9/07) - The State Senate has passed an amended version of AB 207, the Cable Competition bill, 23 to 9 on a bipartisan vote. State Senator Kathleen Vinehout (D-Alma) says the bill guts consumer protection for cable companies under the guise of competition. Another senator, State Senator Judith Robson (D-Beloit), voted against the bill, because of concerns of an adverse impact to local government channels, known as PEG channels (for Public Access, Education and Government use).
