Prosser Seems Winner As G. A. B. Accepts Waukesha County Board Of Canvassers Report
WISCONSINREPORT.COM (04/19/2011) - The Wisconsin Government Accountability Board investigation is continuing, however, the preliminary G.A.B. report indicates that they have accepted the numbers certified by the Waukesha County board of canvassers in the Supreme Court race. Meanwhile, the incumbent Supreme Court candidate, david Prosser has declared victory, and has suggested there should be no further need for a recount, since it appears he has indeed been declared the winner of the April election.
The Wisconsin Government Accountability Board staff has completed its review of election results from Waukesha County for the Wisconsin Supreme Court race between Justice David Prosser and JoAnne Kloppenburg.
Here is a statement from G.A.B. describing the Government Accountability Board review:
"We are satisfied that the numbers reported by the municipalities were consistent with the numbers certified by the Waukesha County Board of Canvassers," the G.A.B. statement reads.
"Although staff identified a few anomalies, the G.A.B. finds no major discrepancies between Waukesha County’s official canvass report and the documentation provided by the municipalities," according to the oficial Government Accountability Board statement released today.
The Government Accountability Board staff members spent four days reviewing the election materials from all reporting units in Waukesha County, and interviewed Clerk Kathy Nickolaus.
"We will continue our investigation into issues related to the reporting of vote totals on Election Night and reports from the 2006 election posted on the Waukesha County website," the G.A.B. statement concludes.
Yesterday, Supreme Court incumbent candidate David Prosser declared a definitive victory with the confirmed results of all 72 counties in‐hand and a 7,316 vote margin.
Today, Prosser's campaign released an official statement:
“Today, the Government Accountability Board’s (GAB) timely and well‐researchedreport detailing the Waukesha County vote reporting error brings an added independent voice to the chorus affirming the results of this election," the Prosser campaign statement says.
The statement continues: "As stated in the corresponding GAB press release, 'We are satisfied that the numbers reported by the municipalities were consistent with the numbers certified by the Waukesha County Board of Canvassers'," the Prosser campaign statement ends.
