WISCONSINREPORT.COM (12/06/2010) - There are about 500 Million members of the social website called Facebook. The editor of WisconsinReport.com, Gary Morgan, joined a couple of months ago. He says Facebook is a great way to keep up with what friends and relatives are doing, even if you haven't seen them for awhile, or, in some cases, never have even met them, yet. Our editor also shares comments, information and links to websites, as do many other Facebook users.
If you were a Facebook Friend of our editor, this is some of what you would have seen show up in your member page Facebook News Feed the past few days in December 2010:

"Here's a website that has information about child abuse and what can be done about it. There are many different ways to abuse a child. If you don't know what they are, take a look at this site. The Blue Ribbons for Kids campaign was created by the Wisconsin Children's Trust Fund, Child Abuse Prevention Fund of Children's Hospital and Health System and Children's Service Society of Wisconsin." "I'm sorry I didn't understand the reason for some of my friends and relatives changing their Facebook profile photos to cartoon characters. Thanks to my Facebook Friend, Phillip Meade, for bringing this to my attention. I am very sympathetic, empathetic, compassionate and passionate about the issue of child abuse (as well as spousal and significant other abuse). No One deserves that kind of treatment." (Gary changed his Facebook profile photo to Felix The Cat December 6, 2010.)

"Sunday’s matchup between the Packers and 49ers saw "the debut of the Packers’ third jersey, a re-creation of the historic 1929 uniform worn by the franchise’s first NFL championship team". Hopefully the familiar Green and Gold will return in the next game and most if not all of the rest of the season. I think the Green and Gold uniforms and regular helmets (not the brown bowling balls) are the best in the NFL."

"Sixty-eight year-old Aretha Franklin is recovering from surgery. Aretha says her surgery was "highly successful". We hope the recovery will be without incident. Aretha Franklin is just one of the many musical stars whose hit recordings are in the library that we draw from to play over the internet at http://GreatGoldHits.com/ . Enjoy the Variety! The next favorite could be yours."

"December 12th is the birthday of Connie Francis, who was part of the early days of rock and roll. In this YouTube video she sings a medley of some of her biggest hits. We play the original audio recordings at http://GreatGoldHits.com/. The video was made years after the originals were big on the Top 40's in the latter 1950s and early 1960s. Tune in on the internet for these and other Classic Hit Oldies." (Link to video was available on Facebook.)

"Wisconsin's new, governor-elect, Republican Scott Walker, is speaking to organizations with a different voice these days. He was elected to replace Governor Jim Doyle after Democrat Doyle announced he was not going to seek another term. Walker is now giving more of a glimpse into the kind of governor he will be when he is sworn in. Read more about it at http://WisconsinReport.com/ ."

"Connie Francis was a Superstar on radio, records and TV back in the latter part of the 1950s into the mid 1960s. She had 35 Top 40 songs and we have several of them in the music library at http://GreatGoldHits.com/ . December is the month in which Connie Francis was born 72 years ago. So we'll play one of her hits every hour until her Birthday Dec. 12th."

"An estimated 33 Million people worldwide have AIDS/HIV. The Speaker of the House of Representatives is suggesting that it's important to keep the pressure on to make things better. On World Aids Day, Speaker Nancy Pelosi says that will require funding from the United States and other countries. See http://WiscReport.com/ ."

"Saw Chelsea Handler of the E-Entertainment Channel show, Chelsea Lately, on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night. I sometimes watch Chelsea's E program. Maybe it's to see how far they go with comments they make. I understand that E is a Cable channel and has more latitude, but, was surprised at how far Leno and Chelsea were going with their patter on "broadcast" TV and, it Got On The Air!" (Later Facebook post gave link to video of Handler vs. Leno excerpt from Tonight Show.)

"More than 5 Million people have already gone to YouTube to view this video. The Christmas Spirit flows into the cafeteria area of a Shopping Mall. What a concept. Indeed! Just in case you haven't seen this, yet, here's a link to get there." (Link was available on Facebook.)
---
"It's not a rumor anymore. Harry Smith and Maggie, etc. will depart the Early Show on CBS television. The replacement team has already been picked. Interesting interview with Early Show producer David Friedman gains some details. See below and follow the link for more." (Link was available on the Facebook post.)
---
"Re-elected Arizona Senator John McCain (Republican) has kind words of praise on the Senate floor for departing Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold (Democrat). Feingold was defeated by Republican Ron Johnson, who will be sworn in after the so-called "lame duck" session of Congress comes to a close. Feingold is finishing three terms." (Link to an online story was provided on end of this Facebook post.)

"Stephanie (Pierce Brosnan's co-star in tv's Remington Steele) Zimbalist's dad, Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. is 92 (born November 30, 1918). Well known for starring roles in the television series 77 Sunset Strip and The F.B.I. He is also the voice behind the character Alfred Pennyworth in Batman: The Animated Series."
