WISCONSINREPORT.COM (02/15/08) - State Assembly Representative Gary Sherman of Port Wing, Wisconsin, has joined the growing list of state leaders who have issued statements of endorsement for Senator Barack Obama. Sherman, a past president of the State Bar of Wisconsin, has been representing the 74th Assembly District in the Ashland - Bayfield area of the state since 1998. He was elected vice chairman of Wisconsin Assembly Democrats in 2003 and 2005. Sherman says Obama can bridge the partisan divide to change federal lawmaking into a positive force toward the quality of lives in Wisconsin and the United States again.
"Senator Barack Obama's message of change excites Democrats, Republicans, and independents alike. His ability to bridge the partisan divide is exactly what America needs right now," Sherman said.
"As I go door to door in my district, my constituents tell me that they want an end to divisive, negative partisanship. They want us to come together to address their real needs. Barack Obama is the one candidate who can bring us all together," Sherman asserts.
"Senator Obama cares about the needs of working families in Northern Wisconsin. He will lead us to invest in our communities to revitalize our economy. He will lead us to address our health care crisis and improve education for our children and our future," according to Gary Sherman.
"Senator Obama also is the only candidate who can transform the electoral map and help Democrats win across the country, Sherman adds. "He possesses the ability to build a broad coalition of support and the appeal to win in politically diverse districts like mine."
"Barack Obama will stand up to special interests on behalf of working families, and never stop believing that change is possible," stated Sherman.
