Former Giuliani Adviser Supports Mccain
WISCONSINREPORT.COM (02/14/08) - Former Wisconsin U.S. Senator Bob Kasten has endorsed John McCain for president. Now that Rudy Giuliani is out of the Repubulican presidential nomination seeking business, Kasten has switched his allegiance from the Giuliani campaign camp where he was a policy adviser. Kasten represented Wisconsin in the United States Congress, followed by the U.S. Senate for a total of 18 years. Kasten has been named to the McCain Wisconsin Steering Committee. Milwaukee native Kasten says John McCain uses a set of core conservative principals in making decisions in the U.S. Senate.
"Through his brave his service to this country in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Senate, John McCain has earned the respect and admiration of a grateful nation," said former Senator Kasten.
"He governs from a set of core conservative principles. For more than two decades, he has fought tirelessly to bring transformative change to Washington," Kasten elaborated.
"Now more than ever, John McCain is the leader we need. I am proud to support him in his campaign for president," Kasten explained.
John McCain thanked former Senator Kasten for his support, saying, "I had the privilege of serving with Bob in the U.S. Senate." McCain says Kasten "is a fine man and a dedicated public servant. I am honored to call him a friend, and I am grateful for his support."
Senator Kasten was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He served Wisconsin as a U.S. Senator from 1981 to 1993, and prior to that he served as a U.S. Representative from 1975 to 1979. Before getting involved in politics, Kasten served in the Wisconsin Air National Guard from 1966 to 1972.
Since 1993, Senator Kasten has served as the President of Kasten and Company.
