WISCREPORT.COM (10/29/07) - Wisconsin Congressman Steve Kagen, M.D. and his Washington D.C. roomate, Congressman Ed Perlmutter, who represents rural Denver,
have a gentleman's wager riding on the outcome of tonight's Packers vs. Broncos football game.
Kagen is taking the Packers and Perlmutter has the Broncos. Whoever wins the wager, brings the beer. A case of Miller versus a case of Coors.
Tensions are high on Capitol Hill - and in this instance, it's not about politics. This time, it's not the political game, it's the football game that will be seen across the nation and the world via ESPN. The ESPN schedule shows the game broadcast starting at 7:30 PM Central Time.
The Packers have won more games so far this season than the Broncos have. The Packers go into tonight's game with 5 wins and 1 loss, while the Broncos are 3-3.
The Packers game against the Broncos is not only pitting Wisconsin's team against Colorado's team, it's pitting roommate against roommate in Washington D.C., imperiling domestic tranquility for Green Bay’s Congressional representative.
Congressman Steve Kagen, M.D. shares his Washington rental with Congressman Ed Perlmutter – the representative from suburban Denver, and a devoted Broncos fan.
The two have a gentleman’s wager riding on the outcome of the Monday night game to be played on the Bronco's home turf.
“When the Packers win, my esteemed colleague from Colorado, the Honorable Ed Perlmutter, will deliver a case of Coors beer," Congressman Kagen says.
"In the unlikely event the Broncos prevail, he will receive a case of Miller," Kagen continued.
Steve Kagen is confident his team (the Packers) will be the triumphant team, so, he's not really worried about who is going to come out victorious.
"My staff is looking forward to enjoying the Coors,” Congressman Kagen said.
