Democrat Official Winner Of 21st Wisconsin Senate District Recall
WISCONSINREPORT.COM (07/10/2012) - Republican Van Wanggaard has decided not to dispute the recount results in the 21st State Senate District, leaving the door open for official certification of the John Lehman victory in the Recall Election, earlier. The Government Accountability Board is expected to announce that certification tomorrow. Democrats will now control the Wisconsin Senate by a slim, one vote, majority.
Van Wanggaard says he didn't have enough time to "fully investigate the mountains of evidence aand answer the questions that have arisen". The deadline to proceed further, if he chose to do so, was today.
However, Wanggaard indicates he is not happy with what he calls "lack of cooperation" by "city officials".
"The investigation into irregularities does not stop today. The investigation will continue and evidence discovered will be provided to law enforcement," ex-Senator Van Wanggaard said.
"The seemingly never-ending delay by Dane County judges preventing implementation of Wisconsinís voter ID law undoubtedly played a role in this recall election," Wanggaard said.
"Even if I were to challenge and win in Racine County court, an appeal to that challenge would be heard in the Madisonís Court of Appeals. A challenge would also be extremely costly to taxpayers, who have already been forced to waste $20 million on the recall election," Wanggaard explained.
"Despite pleas from around the state to challenge the election, it is not in the best interests of Racine, or Wisconsin, at this time," he continued.
"Now is the time to focus on gaining the state senate back in November, winning Wisconsinís U.S. Senate seat, and electing Governor Romney as President," Wanggaard pointed out..
"The count of the ballots, those cast appropriately and those that may not have been, shows my opponent with more votes," the defeated Wanggaard said.
"I hope John Lehman learned the lesson of his defeat
in 2010, and pursues a more job-friendly agenda in office," Wanggaard said.
The Recalled Senator Van Wanggaard says he will return to be a candidate for the 21st Senate District seat again in the next election.
