Dems Kreitlow Disappointed With Congressman Duffy's Role In D. C. Debacle
WISCONSINREPORT.COM (12/23/2011) - A Wisconsin 7th Congressional District Democrat who is seeking to regain the seat for his party and the people of Wisconsin, voiced disagreement with the current Northern Wisconsin Republican who took over the seat in the last election. Pat Kreitlow says Republican Congressman Scott Duffy put over 3 million Wisconsin families at risk for higher taxes when Duffy voted to leave Washington early instead of voting for the tax reduction extension that would benefit those families.
"I have been calling on Congressman Sean Duffy to protect working families from this tax hike," Pat Kreitlow, Democratic Candidate Challenger to Duffy said.
Kreitlow claims Scott Duffy "had numerous opportunities to vote for the extension of the payroll tax cut, but every time he sided with extremism and partisan leadership instead of the hard working families of northern Wisconsin".
"Congressman Duffy even voted to block the bipartisan extension he claims he now supports," Kreitlow said.
"After voting twice to walk away from the problem, Congressman Duffy must now go back to Washington to do what should have been done all along and support a bipartisan tax cut for the middle class," Kreitlow explained.
Pat Kreitlow has served for four years as a Wisconsin State Senator. Prior to that he was a radio and television newsperson, covering news on a local and state level in various areas of Wisconsin, including WEAU-TV, Eau Claire.
"Here in Wisconsin, we work hard, we play fair and we stand by our word," Kreitlow pointed out.
"We deserve better than Congressman Duffy protecting tax breaks for billionaires and pushing tax hikes for us in Washington and then coming to Wisconsin to say something else entirely," Kreitlow added.
"I am glad that Congressman Duffy has finally answered this call and now agrees, but I am running because I will fight for the middle class every day, not just when it’s convenient," Kreitlow said.
"Enough is enough. Wisconsin deserves better than broken promises, gridlock and wasted time,” Kreitlow continued.
The Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin Democrat is running on the ideas that Social Security should be available to everyone who reaches retirement age. He says people have worked hard by retirement time and should be able to retire with the dignity that Social Security makes possible.
Kreitlow says Sean Duffy voted to break that promise, end the Medicare guarantee and use it to pay for even more tax breaks that go only to his wealthiest friends.
Kreitlow wants to represent Wisconsin's 7th Congressional District to help make more opportunities for the true American job creators; provide more protection for American manufacturing jobs and agriculture; stop forcing American familes to pay higher tax rates than billionaires and corporations; and make spending cuts but still protect what America needs, for starters.
Despite the need to cut spending, there are other areas that have already been cut too deeply, Kreitlow cautions.
"I won't accept one more penny of cuts in proven investments that grow our economy", Kreitlow pointed out.
Kreitlow believes there should be opportunites for education so Wisconsin residents can get a first job or a better job; Congress should not burden children with the debt of a crumbling country; gve our fighting men and women the best tools… and a plan; and that it is important to the future of the United States to end this sham known as "Corporate Personhood".
Pat Kreitlow does not believe it is in the best interest of the country to sign pledges to do this or to not do that as Republicans like Scott Duff have been doing in Washington D.C.
"My only pledge is to take my work as an American Congressman seriously every day and on every issue", Kreitlow said.
"I owe no pledges to any outside group, think tank or special interest other than to work on behalf of each and every person in my district who depends on me to represent them in Washington," Kreitlow continued.
"Pledges and gimmicks tie our hands, force us to wear blinders and make politicians weak and ineffective," Pat Kreitlow said.
Kreitlow's slogan is "Fighting to put Wisconsin Values to work in Washington D.C."
